End of Season

Thanks everyone for the support all year. We saw off the season in style at Narberth and Heatherton, at least as soon as we got the confirmation that Cam was OK! Thanks to Ed at Narberth for the welcome and for the game played in the true spirit. And thanks to all the parents with the help organising, in advance and on the day. Thanks to the lads for truly excellent behaviour all day. You are a credit to the club.

We will take a proper break now, and come back to training fresh at the end of July/beginning Aug. We will organise an end of season get together at the club (or maybe at the park) at some point to hand out the team year photo and say a few words. This will either be at the end of May, or just before we start up again in July.

Mumbles Wildcats 2011-12. Played 38. Time for a rest.

Narberth Tour

Our final outing of the season this Sunday. For those travelling on the coach, we need to meet outside the rugby club at 08:30. If you are meeting us at Narberth please meet us there at 10:30. Directions HERE.

The plan for the day is:
08:30 Meet coach at Mumbles RFC. Leave by 9:00
10:30 Meet at Narberth RFC
11:00 Match vs Narberth
12:00 Bar at Narberth RFC
13:00 Leave Narberth for Heatherton
14:00 - 17:00 Activities at Heatherton
17:00 Leave for Pub
18:00 Meal at The Phoenix at Cross Hands
20:00 ish leave to return to Mumbles
21:00 ish Return to Mumbles
End of Season

It looks like the weather won't be great. This should not matter much at Narberth or at Heatherton, but can everyone make sure they have a full change of clothes after the match, in case the lads are very muddy, which won't go down too well with the coach company.

Just one more match

********* The Contenders LIVE *********
At the rugby club on Saturday 28th April. Free entry.

Great result out at Lucton on Sunday. To bring home the Plate with a big group of boys is a superb achievement and reflects the efforts put in by all the Wildcats all season.

No match on Sunday, but we will have training on Friday 5:00 to 6:00.

Our last event will be Narberth on 6th May and we will need confirmation and payment from everyone. Can you please let us know your travel and food plans and bring the payment to training this Friday. If you are not coming to training we'd appreciate letting us know your options, and dropping the cash down if possible.

Our mini tour will take us by coach to Narberth for a friendly match in the morning. Then to Heatherton for activities in the afternoon, with a pub meal on the way back. The full tour is £25 per player (or accompanying youngster). This includes coach, tickets for 7 Heatherton activities, and the meal. Parents go free on the coach, can decide to join in at Heatherton by paying on the day, and can sort out their own meals at the pub. If you are meeting us at Narberth and just coming to Heatherton the cost is £11 per player. If you are meeting us, coming to Heatherton and having a meal the cost is £16. For the boys meals, can you also let us know whether you want Beefburger, Chicken Burger or Veggie Burger (mozzarella and mushroom) (all served with chips and salad. There is a large menu for adults). Helen and Herjeet will be collecting the cash and information on Friday. We had a superb teamer reply for this event, so we hope everyone is still available to finish off another successful season in style.

Lucton Trip

Friday training will start at 4:30 as lots are going to Shane Williams' last home Ospreys match (KO 7.05).

We have had a great teamer reply and lots of boys are available for hopefully another fun Lucton experience.

We have a decision on the travel arrangements, and we will car share on Sunday. Having done both in the past, there are benefits either way, but this year we just could not get a coach at a reasonable cost, and it would mean leaving very early in the morning, so we have gone for the flexible option.

Our destination is Kingsland, just before Leominster, HR6 9SB, and the Luctonians Sports Club. It is an 88 mile trip, but with the country roads at the end, it takes the best part of 2 hours. I will post the directions later and bring some maps to training on Friday.

For those who want to drive up in convoy we will meet at the car park at the bottom of sketty lane lights at 8:00. If you are going separately please try and be on the road by 8:30 so you are there by 10:30. The tournament starts at 11:00, although we may not be first up to play.

Please can everyone who is going to Lucton make sure they come to training on Friday (as we will introduce the English rules that we will be playing in Lucton).

Luctonians Tournament Plans

In 2 weeks we are off again to the Luctonians tournament. For those who have not been, it is an all day event at a great venue near Ludlow. It is a long and tiring day, but we have always got a lot out of the trip. We will firm up the plans nearer the time, but the day will look something like this...

Set off for Leominster at about 8:30.
Arrive about 10:30.
First game about 11:00
About 4 or 5 matches during the day
Leave about 5:00 and get back to mumbles about 7.

We have had a coach in the past, but have found that car sharing is better as we have some flexibility with leaving times at the end of the day and it is quite a lot quicker on the country roads to get there. We will try and organise the car share nearer the time.

Sign up on teamer for a crack at the English teams and some real scrummaging!
