Laws of the game

As we all witnessed this morning, sometimes it can be a very difficult task being a referee. Currently if it wasn't for Mike, we wouldn't have a qualified person to ref the matches, this is something everyone needs to remember.

At the level the Wildcats are playing it would be feasible for the ref to blow his whistle for around 90% time around the tackle area. This is because the game has so many areas the plyers need to become familar with. It is important that players and spectators understand that the development of teams would be curtailed if the referee was "whistle happy". Striking a balance between the two teams has to be the key for all stakeholders, players, spectators and coaches alike. This is something I believe Mike does particularly well.

For those interested, the WRU publication, Rugby Pathway; Minis to Millenium can be downladed here. http://www.wru.co.uk/downloads/WRU-PDF-Games-Pathway_Booklet.pdf It shows the stages of development and rules with which we play.

As usual, all players today showed commitment and desire. Everyone can be very pleased with their contribution towards a successful morning for the Wildcats. Training Friday, onwards and upwards.

Weekend Plans - NO RUGBY ON SUNDAY

It was a total mudbath on Friday night, and very cold. So with low temperatures expected over Saturday night and no scheduled match we think it is better to call off the rugby now so everyone can make other plans. We hope to be back to normal next week if it warms up a bit.

End of season date for the diary - Sunday of first bank holiday in May (6th). Wildcats Jolly Boys' Outing. Details for the annual beano to follow.

Weekend Plans - Game ON

Game on at FALL BAY. Meet 10:30 AT FALL BAY (scurlage
SA3 1BA)
Arthur, Sam, Owen, Josh, Cam, Ethan, Lloyd, Dunc, Luca

Friday Training is OFF. The pitch is frozen solid and yesterday it did not defrost at all during the day. Best make the early call and cancel.

This is the team for Sunday. The way it is going there is a good chance of cancellation, so please keep an eye on blog. Some of the weather forecasts are predicting rain on Saturday, which might well soften up the ground, in which case the game should be on. Still, we are keeping this to small numbers for obvious reasons.... Fall Bay Team (if it warms up a bit)....Arthur, Ike, Dylan, Owen, Josh, Cam, Ethan, Lloyd, Dunc, Luca.
